| 7 | 8 | | chief Michael C. Fisher on July 4, 2017, at the age of 74; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mike Fisher was born on October 6, 1942, to Merle and |

| 9 | 10 | | Mary Fisher, and he attended Cameron Junior College and Oklahoma |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | State University; he was a loving husband to Bonnie Sue Fisher for |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 43 years and the proud father of three children, Mary Sue, Wesley, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and Robert; he also took great joy in welcoming into his family |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of a distinguished career as a first |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | responder and emergency manager, Mr. Fisher served with the Bastrop |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Fire Department from 1973 to 2013, and he led the agency as chief |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | from 1985 to 1995; he also held the office of director of water and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | wastewater for Bastrop, and for 20 years, he was the city's |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | emergency management coordinator; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement from that post in 2005, |

| 21 | 22 | | Mr. Fisher served as deputy director of emergency management for |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Bastrop County; as an incident commander during the catastrophic |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | wildfire in 2011, his skilled and rapid response helped save many |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | lives, and he also provided invaluable support to other regional |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | disaster response efforts, including the Burnet County floods in |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | 2007 and the fertilizer plant explosion in West in 2013; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fisher was a member of the Capital Area Type 3 |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Incident Management Team and the Capital Area Council of |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Governments' Homeland Security Task Force, and he played an |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | instrumental role in the creation of the Texas Emergency Management |

| 31 | 32 | | Assistance Team, a statewide network of multidisciplinary experts |

| 32 | 33 | | who provide quick response to disasters; his numerous honors |

| 33 | 34 | | include two Awards of Distinction from the Bastrop Chamber of |

| 34 | 35 | | Commerce and a Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to |

| 35 | 36 | | Disaster Recovery by a Public Official from the U.S. Small Business |

| 37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, For four and a half decades, Mike Fisher devoted |

| 38 | 39 | | himself to protecting the lives and property of the people of |

| 39 | 40 | | Bastrop and Bastrop County, and he leaves behind a record of service |

| 40 | 41 | | that his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it |
