| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This notable event is hosted by Catholic Daughters |

| 9 | 10 | | of the Americas--Mother of Love Court No. 2092 in Houston; |

| 10 | 11 | | established in 1974 at Resurrection Catholic Church and guided by |

| 11 | 12 | | the CDA motto, "Unity and Charity," this group is composed of women |

| 12 | 13 | | from several local parishes who work tirelessly to promote social |

| 13 | 14 | | justice and advance human rights; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, For two decades, José Griñán has anchored the FOX 26 |

| 15 | 16 | | morning and midday newscasts; he has also served as the host of two |

| 16 | 17 | | public affairs programs, Hola Houston and The Black Voice, and he |

| 17 | 18 | | has produced a variety of important special reports; he is active in |

| 18 | 19 | | the Houston community, volunteering his energy and expertise on |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | behalf of many nonprofit cultural, educational, and social service |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Griñán began his broadcasting career in 1975 at |

| 22 | 23 | | KTSM in El Paso, and he went on to work in New York, Tampa, Miami, |

| 23 | 24 | | Los Angeles, and Dallas before joining FOX 26 in 1993; he is a |

| 24 | 25 | | longtime member of the National Association of Black Journalists |

| 25 | 26 | | and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, An engaged civic leader, José Griñán has given |

| 27 | 28 | | freely of his time and talents for the benefit of his fellow |

| 28 | 29 | | citizens, and his dedication and generosity are an inspiration to |
