| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, For nearly 40 years, William Patrick Dodson served |

| 6 | 7 | | with distinction as chair of the Uvalde County Democratic Party |

| 7 | 8 | | Executive Committee, and his accomplishments are indeed deserving |

| 8 | 9 | | of recognition; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Pat Dodson was first elected Democratic chair in |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | 1976 and continued in that role until 2015; his skill and dedication |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | greatly benefited the party over the course of his remarkable |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | tenure, and his contributions included service as local coordinator |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | for Price Daniel Jr.'s campaign for Texas attorney general in 1978; |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of the county, Mr. Dodson has |

| 16 | 17 | | also served the community in a number of other capacities; he was a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | member of the board of the Sabinal Independent School District from |

| 18 | 19 | | 1981 to 1990 and held the offices of president, vice president, and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | secretary; in addition, he was president of the Uvalde Youth Rodeo |

| 20 | 21 | | Association and a member of the board of the John Nance Garner |

| 21 | 22 | | Museum; moreover, he is a 32nd Degree Mason and member of the |

| 22 | 23 | | Alzafar Shrine in San Antonio, as well as a Master Mason of Sabinal |

| 23 | 24 | | Lodge No. 943, AF&AM; in 1997, he was named an admiral in the Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dodson earned his bachelor's degree in business |

| 26 | 27 | | administration at Sam Houston State University in 1970; four years |

| 27 | 28 | | later, he become a certified public accountant and graduated from |

| 28 | 29 | | St. Mary's Law School, and he went on to receive a master's degree |

| 29 | 30 | | from the New York University School of Law Tax Program before |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | returning to practice in his hometown; and |

| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Through his decades of service to the Democratic |

| 32 | 33 | | Party, Pat Dodson set an outstanding example of civic engagement, |

| 33 | 34 | | and he has earned the lasting respect and admiration of his fellow |

| 34 | 35 | | citizens; now, therefore, be it |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 36 | 37 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby honor William Patrick |
