| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This notable event is hosted by Catholic Daughters |

| 9 | 10 | | of the Americas--Mother of Love Court No. 2092 in Houston; |

| 10 | 11 | | established in 1974 at Resurrection Catholic Church and guided by |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | the CDA motto, "Unity and Charity," this group is composed of women |

| 12 | 13 | | from several local parishes who work tirelessly to promote social |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | justice and advance human rights; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Rosalie Karstedt joined the convent of the Sisters |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | of Divine Providence in San Antonio in 1961; she began her service |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | in the ministry in Houston, where she was instrumental in forming an |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | integrated religious education faculty to serve the fast-growing |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Anglo, Hispanic, and black communities in St. Benedict the Abbot |

| 19 | 20 | | Parish; as president of the Diocesan Sisters Council, she was |

| 20 | 21 | | active in raising support among the various congregations of Women |

| 21 | 22 | | Religious to establish The Metropolitan Organization of the |

| 22 | 23 | | diocese; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, During her tenure in the Office of Vocations for the |

| 24 | 25 | | Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Sister Karstedt witnessed the |

| 25 | 26 | | ordinations of 77 priests from diverse cultures and backgrounds, |

| 26 | 27 | | many of whom she had mentored over the years; she continued her work |

| 27 | 28 | | in uniting clergy and parishioners from all walks of life while |

| 28 | 29 | | initiating the development of the first Diocesan Vocational |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Council; elected to the leadership council of the Congregation of |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Divine Providence in 2005, she later returned to Houston to join the |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | formation faculty at St. Mary's Seminary; to date, she has served |

| 32 | 33 | | more than 40 years in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, where |

| 33 | 34 | | she continues to nurture the spiritual development of aspiring |

| 34 | 35 | | priests of all cultures and ethnicities; and |

| 35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, An engaged civic leader, Rosalie Karstedt has given |

| 37 | 38 | | citizens, and her dedication and generosity are an inspiration to |
