| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of New Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church |

| 6 | 7 | | in Fort Worth celebrated the installation of their pastor, the |

| 7 | 8 | | Reverend Marcus R. McDonald, on March 12, 2017; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native of Corsicana, Marcus McDonald attended Fort |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Worth ISD schools and graduated in the top two percent of his class |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | from Green B. Trimble Technical High School; he earned his |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | associate degree from Tarrant County College and has gone on to |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | study at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 1989, he became a member of New Rising Star |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Missionary Baptist Church; there, he witnessed the dynamic |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | preaching and leadership style of Pastor Isadore Edwards Jr., which |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | proved to be a formative experience in his development as a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | clergyman; through the years, he has generously shared his time and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | talents to benefit the congregation, serving 2 terms as youth |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | director, 5 years as minister of evangelism, and 16 years as a |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | church school teacher; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Marcus McDonald was ordained to preach on March 24, |

| 22 | 23 | | 2002; he served as assistant to Pastor Edwards from 2004 to 2015, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | and on the pastor's retirement, he became the interim pastor, |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | fulfilling that role until his selection by the church family to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | assume the pulpit permanently; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, While contributing to his community of faith, Pastor |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | McDonald has enjoyed a successful career in banking, which has |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | included work as a loan officer, branch manager, and regional |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | strategic consultant; in all his endeavors, he has been blessed |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | with the support and affection of his beloved wife, Vera, and their |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | two children, Kendall and Zachry; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, The appointment of Pastor McDonald marks the |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | beginning of an exciting new chapter in the history of New Rising |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Star, and members of the congregation may indeed look forward to |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | deepening their faith and continuing their good works under his |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | spiritual guidance; now, therefore, be it |

| 37 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
