| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Northwest Democrats of Bexar County |

| 6 | 7 | | are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their organization's |

| 7 | 8 | | founding in 2017; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1992, a group of Democrats joined together to |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | engage voters and to carry the message, principles, and ideals of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the Democratic Party to 160 precincts in northwest Bexar County; |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In support of their mission, the organization has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | worked for the election of Democrats at the local, state, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | national levels, registered voters, mobilized citizens to take |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | action on particular issues, and stimulated political activism and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | awareness; and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Starting in 1996, the group has mounted a full |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | campaign in the region during every election cycle; members knocked |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | on 25,000 doors in that first year, and today, they reach out to |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | more than 100,000 voters; they have also produced a countywide |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | newspaper for every election since 2008, featuring profiles of each |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Democratic candidate; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Northwest Democrats generously support |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | initiatives that benefit the greater community, including Meals on |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Wheels, Adopt-a-Highway, Stuff the Bus, Project Cool, and the San |

| 26 | 27 | | Antonio Food Bank, among others; they have also planted trees at |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | elementary schools in the Northside Independent School District; |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Over the past quarter century, the members of |

| 30 | 31 | | Northwest Democrats have demonstrated admirable dedication and |

| 31 | 32 | | commitment to their ideals, and they have strengthened our |

| 32 | 33 | | democracy by playing a vital role in the political discourse of |

| 33 | 34 | | Bexar County; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 35 | 36 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the Northwest |

| 36 | 37 | | Democrats of Bexar County on their 25th anniversary and extend to |
