| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Gary Schwarz has been recognized by DentaQuest |

| 7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2015, the DentaQuest Health Equity |

| 8 | 9 | | Hero awards program recognizes industry leaders whose innovative |

| 9 | 10 | | efforts have helped improve health outcomes and access to care for |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | underserved populations in their local communities; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Schwarz is cofounder and former president of the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Weslaco-based nonprofit organization Dentists Who Care, which |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | serves low-income, uninsured families in the Rio Grande Valley; |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | since its founding in 1996, the group has provided $7.5 million in |

| 15 | 16 | | free preventive dental care to more than 25,000 patients; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of the Baylor University College of |

| 17 | 18 | | Dentistry, this notable Texan currently practices at Valley OMS |

| 18 | 19 | | Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and he belongs to a number of |

| 19 | 20 | | professional organizations, including the American Dental |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Association, the Rio Grande Valley District Dental Society, and the |

| 21 | 22 | | American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons; he has further |

| 22 | 23 | | given of his time and expertise as founder and director of the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Seattle Study Club of South Texas and as a member of the board of |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | trustees for the Valley Baptist Health System; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Through his commitment to offering skilled, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | compassionate, and accessible dental care, Dr. Gary Schwarz has |

| 27 | 28 | | benefited the lives of many South Texans, and this prestigious |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | award is indeed a fitting acknowledgment of his outstanding record |

| 29 | 30 | | of service; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
