| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Pedro Reyes has rendered exceptional service to |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his notable six-month tenure, |

| 9 | 10 | | Dr. Reyes has worked tirelessly to advance the mission of UTSA; he |

| 10 | 11 | | was instrumental in helping the university secure a budget increase |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | during the 85th Texas Legislative Session, and he played a vital |

| 12 | 13 | | role in garnering $27 million in federal research grants for the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | school, as well as $10 million from the City of San Antonio for a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | joint-use team facility; under his able guidance, construction |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | began on a new science and engineering building, and a partnership |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | was forged with the San Antonio Independent School District for a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | prospective charter school; moreover, he established a Community |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Downtown Campus Advisory Council and task forces on sexual assault, |

| 19 | 20 | | data governance, and the San Antonio Tricentennial celebration; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan previously taught at the |

| 21 | 22 | | University of Kansas and the University of Wisconsin before |

| 22 | 23 | | beginning his distinguished career with The University of Texas in |

| 23 | 24 | | 1990 as associate dean of graduate studies at UT Austin, where he |

| 24 | 25 | | was also a professor of education policy and administration; from |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | 2003 to 2012, he served as associate vice chancellor for academic |

| 26 | 27 | | planning and assessment for the UT System, followed by a three-year |

| 27 | 28 | | stint as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs; he holds a |

| 28 | 29 | | bachelor's degree and a Ph.D. from the University of |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Wisconsin--Madison; and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Through his incisive leadership, inspiring vision, |

| 31 | 32 | | and passionate commitment to higher education, Dr. Pedro Reyes has |
