| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by |

| 6 | 7 | | the family and friends of Mikal "Zane" Walker of Waxahachie, a |

| 7 | 8 | | remarkable young man whose life was cut tragically short on July 3, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2017, at the age of 17; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in Dallas on July 19, 1999, Zane Walker was the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | cherished son of Stacey and Shane Walker and the brother of Katie |

| 11 | 12 | | Walker; he had recently graduated from Waxahachie High School, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | where he was a varsity swimmer and a three-year letterman on the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Indians soccer team; passionate about sports and outdoor activities |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of any kind, he volunteered his time as a youth-league soccer |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | referee and as an assistant coach for his sister's soccer team, and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | he had recently taken a job as a lifeguard; he planned to continue |

| 17 | 18 | | his studies at Texas State University in the fall; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A young man who embraced life to the fullest, |

| 19 | 20 | | Mr. Walker was also a kind, loyal, and supportive friend; with his |

| 20 | 21 | | lively personality and wonderful sense of humor, he made every |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | occasion all the more memorable, and he was admired by everyone for |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the determination and fearlessness with which he pursued his goals; |

| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Although his passing leaves a tremendous void, those |

| 25 | 26 | | fortunate enough to have known Zane Walker will never forget the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | joy, laughter, and love that he shared with them, and they will keep |

| 27 | 28 | | his memory in their hearts forever; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 29 | 30 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

| 30 | 31 | | Mikal "Zane" Walker and extend deepest condolences to all those who |

| 31 | 32 | | mourn his passing; and, be it further |
