| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 95th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Birdie Mae Brown marked this joyous |

| 7 | 8 | | occasion on June 21, 2017, in the company of family and friends; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1922, Birdie Mae Brown worked in the cotton |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | fields with her family as a child and attended school in Blooming |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Grove; she married young, and she and her husband, Rubin Brown, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | became parents when she was just 17; the family resided in Bristol |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | before settling in Ennis in the 1960s; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Brown instilled in her 12 children the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | importance of completing their education, and she worked diligently |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | to help support her treasured family; she was employed at the Adams |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Hats factory in Corsicana for 16 years, and she also served as a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | caregiver; she finally retired at the age of 80; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Widowed in 1996, she now lives in Mesquite with one |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | of her sons, but paid a visit to her daughter in Ennis for her |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | birthday; today, Mrs. Brown is the cherished matriarch of a very |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | large extended family of more than 40 grandchildren, over 50 |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | including a set of twins born on her birthday; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Birdie Mae Brown has met life's challenges with |

| 25 | 26 | | resilience, optimism, and determination, and she is a source of |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | wisdom and inspiration to all who have the good fortune to know her; |

| 27 | 28 | | now, therefore, be it |
