 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Words cannot describe the sorrow felt at the loss of
 Corporal Monty Dale Platt of the West Texas A&M University Police
 Department, who died on August 8, 2017, at the age of 47, after
 sustaining injuries in the line of duty; and
 WHEREAS, Monty Platt was born in Canyon on October 17, 1969,
 to Tommy Joe and Patricia Tucker Platt, and he earned his bachelor's
 degree in criminal justice from West Texas State University, now
 West Texas A&M; and
 WHEREAS, Corporal Platt was a peace officer for nearly a
 quarter century, and in 1996, he was proud to join the police
 department at his alma mater, where he became an inspiring mentor to
 younger officers; a keen motorcycle enthusiast, he was a member of
 the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and
 the Harley Owners Group chapter of Amarillo; and
 WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Corporal Platt shared 14
 years of marriage with RoseAnne Rivera, with whom he had two sons,
 Thomas Joseph Platt and the late Daniel James Platt; and
 WHEREAS, A loving husband and father and a dedicated law
 enforcement professional, Monty Platt was taken much too soon, but
 he leaves behind a legacy of public service that will continue to
 inspire all those who knew him; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
 of Corporal Monty Dale Platt and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
 members of his family: to his wife, RoseAnne Platt; to his mother,
 Patricia Platt; to his son, Thomas Joseph Platt; to his sister,
 Melissa Mosley, and her husband, Robert; to his nephews, Logan and
 Max Mosley; and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Monty
 Platt.
