| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Monty Platt was born in Canyon on October 17, 1969, |

| 10 | 11 | | to Tommy Joe and Patricia Tucker Platt, and he earned his bachelor's |

| 11 | 12 | | degree in criminal justice from West Texas State University, now |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | West Texas A&M; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Corporal Platt was a peace officer for nearly a |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | quarter century, and in 1996, he was proud to join the police |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | department at his alma mater, where he became an inspiring mentor to |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | younger officers; a keen motorcycle enthusiast, he was a member of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the Harley Owners Group chapter of Amarillo; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, Corporal Platt shared 14 |

| 20 | 21 | | years of marriage with RoseAnne Rivera, with whom he had two sons, |

| 21 | 22 | | Thomas Joseph Platt and the late Daniel James Platt; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A loving husband and father and a dedicated law |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | enforcement professional, Monty Platt was taken much too soon, but |

| 24 | 25 | | he leaves behind a legacy of public service that will continue to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | inspire all those who knew him; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
