5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Citizens National Bank of Texas is celebrating its |

7 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This institution was initially founded in 1868 as |

8 | 9 | | Ferris and Getzendaner, Attorneys at Law and Bankers, in |
---|
9 | 10 | | Waxahachie; the business served as the only banking operation in |
---|
10 | 11 | | North Texas for many years, and in June 1884, it earned a federal |
---|
11 | 12 | | charter and was renamed Citizens National Bank; in 1905, it merged |
---|
12 | 13 | | with First National Bank to become Citizens National Bank of |
---|
13 | 14 | | Waxahachie, and it went on to do business under that banner for a |
---|
14 | 15 | | century before assuming its present name; and |
---|
15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Since 1930, CNBT has primarily been owned and |
---|
16 | 17 | | operated by the same family; Colonel M. E. Singleton served as |
---|
17 | 18 | | president for eight years before his death in 1938, at which time |
---|
18 | 19 | | his son, M. E. "Marvin" Singleton Jr., took the reins; he in turn |
---|
19 | 20 | | was succeeded by his son, George H. Singleton, in 1987, and for the |
---|
20 | 21 | | past quarter century, the bank has been ably guided by a member of |
---|
21 | 22 | | the fourth generation, M. E. "Mark" Singleton III; and |
---|
22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, From its humble beginnings, CNBT has undergone |
---|
23 | 24 | | dramatic growth, and today it encompasses 12 branches across 9 |

24 | 25 | | North Texas cities and holds more than $800 million in total assets; |

25 | 26 | | through the years, the bank has supported a host of charities and |
---|
26 | 27 | | civic organizations and awarded over 600 college scholarships to |
---|
27 | 28 | | local students; in the past year alone, its employees have |
---|
28 | 29 | | contributed a combined total of some 15,000 volunteer hours to |

29 | 30 | | their respective communities; and |

30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, For a century and a half, Citizens National Bank of |

31 | 32 | | Texas has played a vital role in the prosperity of the Dallas-Fort |

32 | 33 | | Worth Metroplex and beyond, and it is truly deserving of special |

33 | 34 | | recognition on this important milestone in its history; now, |
