| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, After half a century of distinguished service in the |

| 6 | 7 | | field of education, J. Glen Dossett retired as agriculture |

| 7 | 8 | | instructor for the Mineola Independent School District on June 30, |

| 8 | 9 | | 2017; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, A Mineola native, Glen Dossett completed his |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | bachelor's degree in agriculture science education at East Texas |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | State University in 1967 and went to work that same year for |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Pittsburg ISD; in 1970, he received his master's degree in |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | educational administration and joined Mineola ISD as its |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | agriculture instructor; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Dossett taught a wide variety of courses, from |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | animal science to agriculture mechanics; in addition, he served as |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | the district's FFA advisor, and many of the Career and Leadership |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Development Event teams he trained competed at the state level; |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | moreover, he provided guidance for a host of Supervised |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Agricultural Experience projects and advised students working on |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | FFA degrees, including the American FFA degree; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Dossett served Texas FFA as Area |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | VI coordinator and as a member of committees at the district, area, |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | and state levels; from 1975 to 1987, he held a seat on the board of |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | the Vocational Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas, which |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | recognized him for efforts above and beyond the call of duty; he has |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | additionally served on the Agriculture Committee of the Mineola |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | Chamber of Commerce and has coordinated and planned its annual |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Mineola Hay Show; for his contributions to the chamber, he has |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | received both its Appreciation Award and its Distinguished |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Achievement Award; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dossett is supported by |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | the love and encouragement of his wife of 50 years, Darla Sue |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Dossett, and their three daughters, Kristi, Kerri, and Kelli; he |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | also takes great pride in his three granddaughters; and |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career, Glen Dossett |

| 37 | 38 | | dedicated himself to helping young Texans build a strong foundation |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | for future success, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his many |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | accomplishments as an educator; now, therefore, be it |

| 40 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate J. Glen |

| 42 | 43 | | Dossett on his retirement as agriculture instructor for the Mineola |

| 43 | 44 | | Independent School District and extend to him sincere best wishes |
