|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the Texas Teacher of the Year |

| 10 | 11 | | Program recognizes excellence in classroom education and provides a |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | forum to showcase outstanding educators, whose efforts have |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | inspired their students, their colleagues, and the communities they |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | serve; the winners of these prestigious awards are first nominated |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | for consideration by their fellow faculty members, and those who |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | are later chosen as district Teacher of the Year become eligible for |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the regional honor; recipients of the award were named at the Region |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | 16 "Mission Education" conference on August 10, 2017, before an |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | audience of more than 1,200 of their fellow educators; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Amanda Head teaches agricultural science in the |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | career and technology department at Caprock High School; she also |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | serves as the advisor for the school's FFA chapter, and under her |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | direction, the program has grown sevenfold; raised in Hereford, she |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | has been involved with FFA since she was nine years old, and she |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | ultimately opted to study agricultural education at Texas Tech |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | University, earning bachelor's and master's degrees in the subject; |

|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, During the seven years she has taught agricultural |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | science, she has made a point of annually adjusting her curriculum; |

| 29 | 30 | | this process has enabled her to continuously improve her methods as |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | she strives to impart skills to her students that are applicable far |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | beyond the walls of her classroom; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Amanda Head exemplifies the passion, determination, |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our best teachers, |

| 34 | 35 | | and she has set a standard of excellence to which all in her |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Amanda Head on |
