56 WHEREAS, The Cody Stephens "Go Big or Go Home" Memorial
67 Foundation is hosting a fund-raiser on August 26, 2017, in Crosby;

89 WHEREAS, A senior at Crosby High School, Cody Stephens was
910 looking forward to playing football at Tarleton State University
1011 when he died unexpectedly on May 6, 2012, from sudden cardiac
1112 arrest; the Cody Stephens Memorial Foundation was created to honor
1213 his life and to raise awareness of this silent and fatal heart
1314 condition; and
1415 WHEREAS, Under the guidance of its president, Scott Stephens,
1516 the organization works to prevent sudden cardiac arrest by helping
1617 Texas school districts implement electrocardiogram screening
1718 programs and improved physical examinations for middle and high
1819 school athletes; furthermore, it provides academic scholarships to
1920 graduating Crosby High School seniors; and
2021 WHEREAS, The Cody Stephens Memorial Foundation is making a
2122 vital and lasting difference in the lives of countless Texas
2223 families, and the organization is indeed deserving of recognition
2324 for its many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it
2425 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas
2526 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the Cody
2627 Stephens "Go Big or Go Home" Memorial Foundation fund-raiser and
2728 extend to all those associated with the group sincere best wishes
2829 for continued success with their important work; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for the foundation as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
