| 10 | 11 | | when he died unexpectedly on May 6, 2012, from sudden cardiac |

| 11 | 12 | | arrest; the Cody Stephens Memorial Foundation was created to honor |

| 12 | 13 | | his life and to raise awareness of this silent and fatal heart |

| 13 | 14 | | condition; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the guidance of its president, Scott Stephens, |

| 15 | 16 | | the organization works to prevent sudden cardiac arrest by helping |

| 16 | 17 | | Texas school districts implement electrocardiogram screening |

| 17 | 18 | | programs and improved physical examinations for middle and high |

| 18 | 19 | | school athletes; furthermore, it provides academic scholarships to |

| 19 | 20 | | graduating Crosby High School seniors; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Cody Stephens Memorial Foundation is making a |

| 21 | 22 | | vital and lasting difference in the lives of countless Texas |

| 22 | 23 | | families, and the organization is indeed deserving of recognition |

| 23 | 24 | | for its many accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commemorate the Cody |
