| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Officer Gerry Lopez of the Port Isabel Police |

| 6 | 7 | | Department demonstrated exceptional skill and composure when he |

| 7 | 8 | | helped save the life of an infant on July 9, 2017; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In the early afternoon on that day, Officer Lopez |

| 9 | 10 | | was flagged down by a distraught couple who had pulled over to the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | roadside because their baby had stopped breathing; and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Officer Lopez began performing CPR, which succeeded |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | in reviving the child; after emergency medical services personnel |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | arrived on the scene, the baby was transported to a hospital in |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Brownsville, where his condition has continued to improve; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Through his swift and decisive action, Officer Gerry |

| 16 | 17 | | Lopez helped to prevent a dire situation from becoming a tragedy, |

| 17 | 18 | | and he is truly deserving of the gratitude and admiration of his |

| 18 | 19 | | fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it |

| 19 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 85th Texas |
