| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 18.008, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | adding Subsections (b-1) and (e) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (b-1) Information furnished under this section may not |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | include: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | (1) a voter's social security number; or |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | (2) the residence address of a voter who is a federal |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | judge or state judge, as defined by Section 13.0021, or the spouse |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of a federal judge or state judge, if the voter included an |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | affidavit with the voter's registration application under Section |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 13.0021 or the applicable registrar has received an affidavit |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | submitted under Section 15.0215. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (e) The registrar may only furnish information under this |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | section that is public information that is subject to required |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | disclosure under Chapter 552, Government Code, or that is required |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | to be released by another provision of law or a subpoena. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 2. Section 18.066, Election Code, is amended by |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | adding Subsection (g) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | (g) The secretary of state may only furnish information |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | under this section that is public information that is subject to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | required disclosure under Chapter 552, Government Code, or that is |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | required to be released by another provision of law or a subpoena. |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect December 1, 2017. |
