55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to a supplemental appropriation from the economic
88 stabilization fund for certain health benefit plans administered by
99 the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. (a) In addition to amounts previously
1212 appropriated to the Teacher Retirement System for the state fiscal
1313 biennium ending August 31, 2019, for Strategy A.2.1, Retiree Health
1414 - Statutory Funds, the amount of $526,000,000 is appropriated from
1515 the economic stabilization fund to that agency for the state fiscal
1616 biennium ending August 31, 2019. The Teacher Retirement System of
1717 Texas shall use funds appropriated by this Act in the manner the
1818 agency determines is appropriate for any purpose for which money
1919 appropriated for Strategy A.2.1, Retiree Health - Statutory Funds,
2020 may be used.
2121 (b) In this section, "Strategy A.2.1, Retiree Health -
2222 Statutory Funds" means that strategy for the Teacher Retirement
2323 System as provided by S.B. 1, Acts of the 85th Legislature, Regular
2424 Session, 2017 (the General Appropriations Act).
2525 SECTION 2. (a) Subject to Subsection (b) of this section:
2626 (1) this Act takes effect immediately if it receives a
2727 vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2828 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution; and
2929 (2) if this Act does not receive the vote necessary for
3030 immediate effect, this Act takes effect on the 91st day after the
3131 last day of the legislative session.
3232 (b) This Act takes effect only if it receives a vote of
3333 two-thirds of the members present in each house of the legislature,
3434 as provided by Section 49-g(m), Article III, Texas Constitution.
