| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 466.355, Government Code, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (d) Of the money transferred to the foundation school fund | |
| 14 | 14 | under Subsection (b)(4)(B) in each state fiscal year, 50 percent | |
| 15 | 15 | shall be used only for funding salary increases for public school | |
| 16 | 16 | classroom teachers with at least six years of teaching experience | |
| 17 | 17 | and school district costs exclusively associated with teacher | |
| 18 | 18 | retirement contributions authorized by this section, and any | |
| 19 | 19 | portion of the 50 percent remaining after giving priority to | |
| 20 | 20 | funding for those purposes shall be used for funding bonuses to | |
| 21 | 21 | public school classroom teachers with at least six years of | |
| 22 | 22 | teaching experience. | |
| 23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
