| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of Abilene in mourning the loss of Detective Elise Ybarra, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in the line of duty August 6, 2017, at the age of 33; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Elise Ybarra was an exemplary citizen and a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | peace officer who was widely respected and admired for her |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | dedication to her profession and for her many contributions to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | her community; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Detective Ybarra began her career in law |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | enforcement as a member of the Sedalia Police Department in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Missouri; in 2014, she joined the Abilene Police Department and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | served as a patrol officer before transferring to the Special |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Victims Unit as a child abuse investigator in 2016; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, she handled the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | unique challenges of law enforcement duty with courage, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | professionalism, and a deep commitment to public service; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, She and her beloved husband, Adam, were blessed |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | with a daughter, who was a source of much pride and joy for her; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A woman of strength, compassion, and integrity, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | she gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | each day to the fullest will not be forgotten by those who were |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | privileged to share in her life; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife and mother, and she leaves |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | behind memories that will be treasured forever by her family and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | to the bereaved family of Elise Ybarra; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | memory of Elise Ybarra. |
