| 3 | 3 | | has been named the 2016-2017 Laredo Sector Youth of the Year by |

| 4 | 4 | | the United States Border Patrol; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Raymundo Miranda and America |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Paez-Miranda, Andrea Miranda Paez is a member of the United South |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Class of 2017; during her high school career, she has distinguished |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | herself through her involvement in the Academy of Global Business |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and Advanced Technology magnet program, and she is a member of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and LULAC Youth; in addition, she has played for the varsity |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | tennis team and participated in University Interscholastic |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | League academic competitions; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Active in her community, Andrea Miranda Paez has |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | completed more than 1,100 hours of service as an intern with the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | City of Laredo accounts payable division and as a volunteer with |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | such worthwhile causes as the Sister Cities Festival, the Laredo |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Tennis Association youth tennis camp, and Sacred Heart Children's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Home; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, This bright young Texan plans to earn a degree in |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | biomedical science from Texas A&M University before going on to |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | attend medical school; she intends to pursue a career as an |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | oncologist and hopes to eventually return to Laredo to open a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | cancer research and treatment center; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedicated efforts in all her endeavors, |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Andrea Miranda Paez has built a strong foundation for success, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and she is indeed deserving of this prestigious accolade; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Andrea |

| 31 | 31 | | Miranda Paez on her selection as the 2016-2017 Laredo Sector |

| 32 | 32 | | Border Patrol Youth of the Year and extend to her sincere best |
