| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Austin Center for Grief and Loss for 10 years of |

| 4 | 4 | | outstanding service to the community; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Austin Center for Grief and Loss is a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | nonprofit organization that was established to assist children |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | and adults as they move from loss to life; the center helps them |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | to transform their grief by providing them with therapy, support, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | education, training, and consultation; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The center was founded in 2007 by Khris Ford to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | honor her late son, Stephen Ford; originally known as My Healing |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Place, it is modeled after Bo's Place, a Houston organization |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | established to help children who had lost a loved one; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The center provides a range of services for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | individuals and families who have experienced loss due to the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | death of a loved one and for those who have experienced loss due |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to divorce or separation; it also offers training for school |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | counselors and continuing education classes for therapists; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Austin Center for Grief and Loss has had a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | profound impact on the lives of countless people, and it is truly |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | fitting that it receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the board of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | directors, therapists, staff, and volunteers of the Austin Center |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | for Grief and Loss on their commitment to serving others and extend |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | to all best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the center as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
