| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Glenn Tucker marked his 50th anniversary in |

| 3 | 3 | | the ministry on July 29, 2017, at his home church, Rose Hill |

| 4 | 4 | | Baptist Church near Mineola; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Now the associate pastor of Antioch Baptist |

| 6 | 6 | | Church in Conway, Arkansas, Bobby Tucker attended Rose Hill |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Baptist as a boy; called to the ministry when he was only 12, he |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | delivered his first sermon the following year, and as a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 14-year-old, he conducted his first wedding service, for his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | sister, Betty Gamble, and her husband, Tom; as a teen, he found |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | many opportunities to preach and minister in Wood County, even |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | filling in while Hainesville Baptist Church was without a pastor |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for more than a year; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Tucker graduated from Mineola High School |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in 1973 and traveled extensively as Texas FFA president and national |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | FFA president before going on to attend Texas A&M University; as |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | a student, he was active in reviving the college ministry at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Beacon Baptist Church in Bryan, and after graduating in 1979, he |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | entered the Baptist Missionary Association and served as a youth |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | minister at Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Early in his career, this esteemed clergyman served |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | as youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Magnolia, Arkansas; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | he worked for the state Baptist Missionary Association and then |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | accepted a position in the youth department for the national |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | association, based in Texarkana; returning to Texas A&M University |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | around the turn of the century, he completed his master's degree |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | while also serving as an assistant director of student activities |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and advisor to the student government association; subsequently, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | he was director of the Association of Baptist Students for a |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | number of years; he then worked briefly in Washington, D.C., |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | before joining Antioch Baptist in 2008; and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of a half century, Pastor Tucker |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | has set an inspiring example of faith in action, and countless |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | are those who have benefited from his guidance, wise counsel, and |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | able leadership; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bobby Tucker |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | on his 50th anniversary in the ministry and extend to him sincere |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 41 | 41 | | Pastor Tucker as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
