SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 149 WHEREAS, Greg Walker, president of East Texas Copy Systems, was inducted in to the Texas A&M University--Commerce Academy of Entrepreneurs at the 2017 Small Business and Entrepreneurship Conference; and WHEREAS, The Academy of Entrepreneurs recognizes professionals in the northeast region of Texas who have demonstrated initiative and perseverance in creating and nurturing their businesses; and WHEREAS, A 1980 graduate of Texas A&M University--Commerce, Mr. Walker has enjoyed a successful career; in 1999, he and a partner purchased East Texas Typewriter, a typewriter repair shop in Tyler that at the time employed seven people; under his dynamic leadership, this 20th century legacy business became East Texas Copy Systems, a comprehensive business technology company with 68 employees at locations in Tyler, Longview, and Lufkin; and WHEREAS, East Texas Copy Systems began by selling copiers and computer printers, and it has since expanded into providing managed IT services, VoIP phone systems, document management, and data backup solutions to customers in 24 counties; the business, which was named Large Business of the Year by the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas in 2017, opened a Customer Care Center to offer immediate remote customer support; and WHEREAS, A leader in his industry, Mr. Walker is vice president of the International Business Products board of directors, and he has served on the Canon Dealer Advisory Council and on the boards of the Copier Dealers Association and the Better Business Bureau of Central East Texas; and WHEREAS, Mr. Walker's acumen and enthusiasm have not only ensured the success of his enterprise, but they have also earned him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may indeed take great pride in this significant honor; and WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Walker is blessed with the love and encouragement of his wife, Kris, and takes great pride in his children Kaylee Bryan, wife of Connor Bryan, Kenzie Smith, wife of Blake Smith, Micah Walker and wife Kaleigh Walker, and son Maselyn Walker as well as his six grandchildren; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Greg Walker on his induction into the Texas A&M University--Commerce Academy of Entrepreneurs and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for Mr. Walker as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
