| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, No words can adequately express the sorrow caused |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | by the tragic loss of William Hunter Brannon of Hallsville, who |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | died on August 5, 2017, at the age of 17; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Stan and Michelle Brannon, Will Brannon |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was born in Longview on December 18, 1999, and grew up in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Hallsville; he was very close to his sister, Carolanne, and the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | family shared many interests, including history, Cardinals |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | baseball, and all things Aggie; they spent many happy hours |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | together hiking national parks, attending air shows to see World |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | War II planes, and relaxing at Caddo Lake and at their deer lease; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | in the summer of 2017, he traveled with his sister to Vicksburg, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Mississippi, for hiking and camping; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Brannon was looking forward to beginning his |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | senior year at Hallsville High School, where he led the tuba section |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | in the Bobcat Band; friendly, engaging, and also mischievous, he |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | loved both helping and pranking new members of the band, and he |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | took pride in his section's recent victory over the drumline in |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | marching competition; he planned to study history at West Texas |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | A&M University with a view toward becoming a teacher; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, This active young Texan relished taking on |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | technical and outdoor challenges; he was a member of Boy Scout |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Troop No. 620 and the Order of the Arrow Brotherhood, and in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | 2016, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout after completing a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | service project in which he constructed a dodgeball arena for a |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | special-needs school; in his free time, he enjoyed archery, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | solving Rubik's Cube puzzles, playing Monster Hunter, and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | drinking coffee and RC Cola; he had a wonderful gift for finding |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | something to treasure in each day; and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, The untimely passing of this remarkable young man |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | is a sobering reminder of the fragility of life, and those who |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | were fortunate enough to know Will Brannon will forever cherish |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | their memories of precious moments spent in his company; now, |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | of William Hunter Brannon and extend deepest condolences to his |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | loved ones; and, be it further |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
