| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, A 60th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 3 | 3 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Jimmy and Nita |

| 4 | 4 | | Rushing of Mineola are celebrating this joyous milestone in their |

| 5 | 5 | | marriage on August 9, 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rushing were joined in matrimony in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 1957; over the years, they have been blessed with a treasured |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | family that includes their children, Tim Rushing, Kim Galyean, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and Jill Hudson, as well as five grandchildren and seven |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Rushings have owned and operated Broadway Barbershop in downtown |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Mineola since 1961; Mr. Rushing continues to ply his trade as a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | barber at the original location of the shop, which received |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | recognition from the Texas Historical Commission with a 2013 |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texas Treasure Business Award; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rushing is also a founding member of the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Mineola JC chapter that first sponsored the city's annual rodeo |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | 55 years ago to benefit the local volunteer fire department; in |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | addition, he has supported the chamber of commerce, along with a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | host of other civic clubs and initiatives; Mrs. Rushing is a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | founding and current member of the board of the Mineola |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Historical Museum, and she has played an instrumental role in its |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | development, operation, and fund-raising; she and her husband |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | have also been active members of First Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Rushing have enjoyed six decades of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | abiding love and affection for each other, and they are among an |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Jimmy and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Nita Rushing on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 35 | 35 | | the couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
