| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Lew Simmonds and |

| 3 | 3 | | Pat Kowalik made a lifetime commitment to one another, and their |

| 4 | 4 | | mutual trust has been amply rewarded, for they are celebrating |

| 5 | 5 | | their 50th wedding anniversary on August 12, 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lew and Pat met and fell in love when they were |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | students at Southwest Texas State University; they were married |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | on August 12, 1967, at the historic Immaculate Conception of the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Panna Maria, Texas; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds had long and successful |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | careers in the Texas public school system, and over the years, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | they greatly influenced the lives of many young Texans; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The devoted couple has been blessed with a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | wonderful family; their three children and eight grandchildren |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | are a source of immense pride and joy; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably in the years of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Simmonds continue to cherish the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | traditional values and strong Christian faith that helped |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | inspire their bond long ago; the love they share is truly an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | inspiration to all who know them; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Lew and Pat |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Simmonds on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them |

| 24 | 24 | | best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them |
