| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the passing of Clifford Lawrence Barlow of Mineola on July 2, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 2017, at the age of 84; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Louise and Clifford Barlow, Larry Barlow |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | was born in Mineola on December 2, 1932, and grew up with the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | companionship of his brother, Jay; after graduating from Mineola |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | High School, he earned his bachelor's degree in geology at |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | varsity golf team and Phi Delta Theta fraternity; he later |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | attended graduate school at The University of Tulsa and also |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | answered his nation's call to duty by serving as a fighter pilot |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | in the United States Air Force; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In 1958, Mr. Barlow began his career as a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | geologist at Oklahoma Natural Gas; six years later, he joined the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Marion Corporation, and over the course of his tenure, he worked |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | his way up from exploration manager to vice president of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | exploration; in 1970, he founded the Min-Tex Oil Corporation, and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | he continued to lead the company until the time of his death; he |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | the Tulsa Geological Society, the Tulsa Association of Petroleum |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Landmen, and the Oklahoma City Association of Professional |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Landmen; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Barlow and his wife, Jane, shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | marriage that spanned 35 years, and he was the proud father of two |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | sons, Bradley and Buckley Barlow, and two stepchildren, Dana and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Max Jones; he also took great delight in his five grandchildren; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, A lifetime member of the Southern Methodist |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | University Alumni Association, Mr. Barlow was an ardent supporter |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | of Mustang athletics; he maintained his love for golf throughout |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | his life and enjoyed playing at courses across the country and |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | around the world; and |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | WHEREAS, Although Larry Barlow will be deeply missed, he |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | has left his family and friends with countless cherished |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | memories, and they will forever hold him close in their hearts; |
|---|
| 40 | 40 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 41 | 41 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 42 | 42 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 43 | 43 | | of Clifford Lawrence Barlow and extend heartfelt sympathy to his |
|---|
| 44 | 44 | | family and many friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 45 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 46 | 46 | | his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|---|
