44 Kenneth Ponder
55 WHEREAS, Kenneth Ponder of Hallsville passed away on
66 June 17, 2017, at the age of 51, leaving behind a large circle of
77 family and friends to mourn his loss; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Gene and Shirley Ponder, Kenny Ponder was
99 born on October 31, 1965, in Atlanta, Georgia, and he later moved to
1010 Texas with his family; he graduated from Marshall High School in
1111 1984 and went on to earn an associate degree in manufacturing
1212 technology from North Carolina State University; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Ponder enjoyed a successful career in the
1414 kitchen cabinet industry; starting out as a laborer, he worked
1515 his way up to become a leader in his field, and in 2008, he joined
1616 his father's company, Master WoodCraft Cabinetry, where he
1717 served as executive vice president until his passing; and
1818 WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Ponder devoted his spare
1919 time to ranching and hunting in a sustainable and environmentally
2020 minded way; moreover, he gave back to his community through his
2121 longtime membership with Ducks Unlimited and his personal and
2222 professional contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project;
2323 strong in his faith, he played an active role in the First United
2424 Methodist Church of Marshall; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mr. Ponder shared many years of love and
2626 companionship with his wife, Kim; he was blessed with a fine
2727 family that included three sons, Blake, Gene, and Pierce, and a
2828 granddaughter, Presleigh, with whom he cherished spending many
2929 special occasions; and
3030 WHEREAS, Kenny Ponder led a rich and purposeful life, and
3131 he will long be remembered with deep affection and admiration by
3232 all who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3434 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
3535 of Kenneth Ponder and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and
3636 many friends; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3838 his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
3939 so in memory of Kenny Ponder.
