5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Kenneth Ponder of Hallsville passed away on |
---|
6 | 6 | | June 17, 2017, at the age of 51, leaving behind a large circle of |
---|
7 | 7 | | family and friends to mourn his loss; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The son of Gene and Shirley Ponder, Kenny Ponder was |
---|
9 | 9 | | born on October 31, 1965, in Atlanta, Georgia, and he later moved to |
---|
10 | 10 | | Texas with his family; he graduated from Marshall High School in |
---|
11 | 11 | | 1984 and went on to earn an associate degree in manufacturing |
---|
12 | 12 | | technology from North Carolina State University; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Ponder enjoyed a successful career in the |
---|
14 | 14 | | kitchen cabinet industry; starting out as a laborer, he worked |
---|
15 | 15 | | his way up to become a leader in his field, and in 2008, he joined |
---|
16 | 16 | | his father's company, Master WoodCraft Cabinetry, where he |
---|
17 | 17 | | served as executive vice president until his passing; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Ponder devoted his spare |
---|
19 | 19 | | time to ranching and hunting in a sustainable and environmentally |
---|
20 | 20 | | minded way; moreover, he gave back to his community through his |
---|
21 | 21 | | longtime membership with Ducks Unlimited and his personal and |
---|
22 | 22 | | professional contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project; |
---|
23 | 23 | | strong in his faith, he played an active role in the First United |
---|
24 | 24 | | Methodist Church of Marshall; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Ponder shared many years of love and |
---|
26 | 26 | | companionship with his wife, Kim; he was blessed with a fine |
---|
27 | 27 | | family that included three sons, Blake, Gene, and Pierce, and a |
---|
28 | 28 | | granddaughter, Presleigh, with whom he cherished spending many |
---|
29 | 29 | | special occasions; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Kenny Ponder led a rich and purposeful life, and |
---|
31 | 31 | | he will long be remembered with deep affection and admiration by |
---|
32 | 32 | | all who were fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
---|
35 | 35 | | of Kenneth Ponder and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and |
---|
36 | 36 | | many friends; and, be it further |
---|
37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

38 | 38 | | his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
---|
39 | 39 | | so in memory of Kenny Ponder. |
