| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Gerald Stagg of Mount Pleasant was |

| 3 | 3 | | presented with a Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare Award at |

| 4 | 4 | | the Titus Regional Medical Foundation's annual Grand Gala on |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | April 28, 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Stagg grew up in Louisiana, where he |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | graduated as valedictorian of his class at Acadia Baptist Academy |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | and earned his medical degree at the Louisiana State University |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | School of Medicine; he originally planned to become a surgeon but |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | was drawn to pediatrics after filling in for a pediatrician while |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | on a medical mission trip in Nigeria; after moving to Mount |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Pleasant in 1981, Dr. Stagg founded the Pediatric Clinic, which |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | serves patients in Mount Pleasant and the surrounding |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | five-county area, and he is a founding partner of Northeast Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Pediatrics; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Stagg has also held multiple leadership roles |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | at Titus Regional Medical Center, including chief of staff for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | physician governance, and he is a fellow of the American Academy |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of Pediatrics; he continues to participate in medical mission |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | trips to Guatemala, and he owns a tree farm where he often hosts |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | events for underprivileged children; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Dr. Stagg enjoys the love |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | and support of his wife, Criss, whom he met at the LSU Medical |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Center, where she was charge nurse on the pediatric floor and he |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | was chief pediatric resident; the couple take pride in their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | children, Hayden, Joshua, and Sarah Grace, all of whom are |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | following in their parents' footsteps to pursue careers in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | medicine; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Admired by his colleagues and patients alike, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Dr. Gerald Stagg has had a positive impact on countless lives |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | through his dedication to excellence in pediatric care, and it is |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | indeed a pleasure to join in recognizing his myriad achievements; |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Gerald |

| 36 | 36 | | Stagg on his receipt of a Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Award from the Titus Regional Medical Foundation and extend to |

| 38 | 38 | | him sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
