| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Janice Stalder on the occasion of her retirement from |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | the Copperas Cove Independent School District and to |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | congratulate her on being named the district's Secondary Teacher |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of the Year; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Jan Stalder began her career in education at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Southwest Texas State University in 1969; she has been a |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | classroom teacher for the last 45 years at Copperas Cove High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School, where she has served as an English teacher, a debate |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | coach, a University Interscholastic League coordinator, a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | history teacher, a newspaper and literary magazine advisor, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | an advanced placement and dual-credit instructor; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, She is affectionately known by her students as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | "the Dragon Lady," which she was nicknamed due to her rigorous |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | curriculum that thoroughly prepared them for college-level |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | courses; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A truly exceptional teacher, Jan instilled in her |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | students a love of learning and armed them with the skills needed |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to compete in the world of tomorrow; many of her pupils have moved |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | on to become leaders in their fields and to serve the local |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | community as administrators and elected officials; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Jan Stalder is a beloved educator who has had a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | positive influence on the lives of innumerable young people, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | it is indeed fitting that she is being honored for her many |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | contributions to the citizens of Copperas Cove; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Janice Stalder |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | on her exemplary teaching career and extend to her best wishes in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | all her future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her |
