| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club on the occasion of its |

| 4 | 4 | | 50th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club was established in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 1967 by a group of citizens who were determined to give back to |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | their community and who were committed to the Rotary International |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | motto of "Service Above Self"; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, the club has undertaken a wide |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | range of projects to benefit the community, notably in the field |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | of education; it has mounted annual drives to provide school |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | supplies for area students, and it awards scholarships each year |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | to deserving high school seniors; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The club has helped hundreds of children acquire |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | eyeglasses and provided numerous families with medical assistance; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | it organizes an Annual Christmas Parade and works in partnership |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | with the City of Elsa to offer meals to area residents at |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Thanksgiving; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, For 50 years, the Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club has |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | played a vital role in making the community a better place in which |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | to live, work, and raise a family, and it is truly fitting that this |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | outstanding organization receive special recognition as it reaches |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the members of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | the Edcouch-Elsa Rotary Club on their commitment to community |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | service and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 50th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the club as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
