| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Commander Jose C. Rodriguez III, commander of Region 3 |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Weslaco of the Texas Department of Public Safety; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Jose Rodriguez joined the Department of Public |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Safety as a state trooper in Three Rivers in 1988; he worked his |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | way through the ranks while serving the citizens of Kingsville, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | El Paso, Corpus Christi, and McAllen; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 2009, the department reorganized its regional |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | command structure and established seven regions throughout the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | state; in October of that year, Captain Rodriguez was promoted to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the newly created regional commander position in McAllen; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Commander Rodriguez currently oversees and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | coordinates all Region 3 Weslaco functions and is dedicated to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | furthering the department's mission of "Protect and Serve |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Texas"; he leads a staff of more than 1,000 employees in a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | jurisdiction that encompasses 27 South Texas counties; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Throughout his exceptional career in law |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | enforcement, Commander Rodriguez has manifested uncommon talent |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in managing the far-reaching responsibilities of his positions; |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | he is highly respected by his colleagues and area citizens for |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | his perseverance and his outstanding leadership; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Commander Jose |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | C. Rodriguez III for his exemplary service on behalf of the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | citizens of the Lone Star State and extend to him best wishes in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | all his future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
