| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Brownsville Independent School District Adult |

| 4 | 4 | | Continuing Education program for helping community residents |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | build bright and prosperous futures; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Adult Continuing Education program in |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Brownsville provides services to a multicultural population of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | educationally and economically disadvantaged adult residents of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Cameron County; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The program serves the unique needs of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | community by offering English as a Second Language and Adult |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Basic Education courses; the curriculum helps students improve |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | their communication skills, discover new avenues for |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | independence, and learn about current trends in employment and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | higher education; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The adult education program encourages students |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to further themselves through workforce options, military |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | service, or post-secondary education and fosters student success |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | by connecting them with the resources they need to help them |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | achieve their personalized goals; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The devoted staff at the Adult Continuing |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Education program seeks to inspire students to recognize their |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | own potential and to instill in students the confidence they need |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | to achieve their dreams; they are indeed deserving of recognition |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | for their exemplary service on behalf of the residents of Cameron |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | County; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend all associated |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | with the Brownsville Independent School District Adult |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Continuing Education program for helping to expand opportunities |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | for disadvantaged residents of Cameron County and extend to them |
|---|
