55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens
66 of Weslaco in mourning the loss of Noe Hernandez, who made the
77 ultimate sacrifice for his country on June 17, 2017, at the age of
88 26; and
99 WHEREAS, Noe Hernandez was a graduate of Weslaco High
1010 School, where he was a member of the Army Reserve Officers'
1111 Training Corps; he went on to serve with distinction in the
1212 United States Navy, and he died bravely in the line of duty while
1313 stationed as a gunner's mate on the USS Fitzgerald; and
1414 WHEREAS, This devoted sailor was admired throughout the
1515 community for his kindness, his inexhaustible positivity, and
1616 his commitment to the patriotic ideals that led him to serve his
1717 country; and
1818 WHEREAS, Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife,
1919 Dora Hernandez; his son, Leon Hernandez; his mother, Virginia
2020 Yolanda Hernandez Lozano; his sister, Mireya Hernandez Alvarez;
2121 and a host of friends and loved ones who were privileged to share
2222 in his life; and
2323 WHEREAS, Noe Hernandez was a dedicated and courageous
2424 sailor who represented the highest ideals of service on behalf of
2525 his fellow citizens, and he will long be remembered with respect
2626 and admiration by all who were privileged to share in his life;
2727 now, therefore, be it
2828 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
2929 Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere condolences
3030 to the bereaved family of Gunner's Mate 2nd Class Noe Hernandez;
3131 and, be it further
3232 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3333 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3434 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3535 memory of Noe Hernandez.
