| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Linda Patterson, who is retiring after more than 30 |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | years of outstanding service as a teacher with the Cotulla |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Linda Patterson came to the Cotulla Independent |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | School District after completing her bachelor's degree at Our |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Lady of the Lake University in 1983; a longtime chemistry teacher |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | at Cotulla High School, she returned to the university and earned |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | a master's degree in 2011; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to her work, Mrs. Patterson has assisted |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | with a wide array of student activities over the years; she has |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | taken students from different disciplines to University |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Interscholastic League competitions at the state level, and she |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | sponsored a group of students whose petition for a tobacco-free |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | campus led to a district-wide policy change; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Her students have greatly benefited from her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | practical teaching methods, her encouragement, and her enthusiasm |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | for sharing her love of science; she is the recipient of two Bell |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Awards and was named Teacher of the Year on multiple occasions; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary educator, she is respected and admired |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | by colleagues and students alike, and her presence at Cotulla |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | High School will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Linda Patterson |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | on her valuable contributions to the education of many |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | generations of Cotulla students and extend to her best wishes for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her |
|---|
