| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Mickey |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Wayne Haisten of Alba, who passed away on May 27, 2017, at the age |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of 58; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Quitman on July 11, 1958, to Mac and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Dianne Haisten, Mickey Haisten grew up with the companionship of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | his brother, Keith, and his sister, Kay; in 1978, he was joined in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | matrimony to the former Betty Gail Pope, and the couple shared a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | rewarding marriage that spanned nearly four decades; over the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | years, his treasured family grew to include his two sons, Matt |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and Justin, and his three grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Alba area, Mr. Haisten |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | served with the Tyler Fire Department for 28 years before |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | retiring at the rank of captain; dedicated to his vocation, he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | was a member of his department's pension board and held the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | office of vice president of the Tyler Professional Firefighters |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Association; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Haisten further benefited his fellow |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | residents through his work as a member of the city council and as |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a firefighter for the City of Alba Volunteer Fire Department; he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | also co-owned Haisten's Grocery, and he was a valued congregant |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of the Grand Saline Church of Christ; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to his family, his faith, and his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | community, Mickey Haisten lived a rich and purposeful life, and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | although his journey on this earth ended far too soon, he leaves |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | pride; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | of Mickey Wayne Haisten and extend heartfelt sympathy to his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | relatives and many friends; and, be it further |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | so in memory of Mickey Haisten. |
