| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, A 65th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of |

| 3 | 3 | | mutual devotion and shared experiences, and Bobby and Joyce Myers |

| 4 | 4 | | of Paris celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | July 3, 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Myers and the former Joyce Gamble were |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | joined in matrimony in 1952 in their hometown of Electra; over |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | includes their daughters, Christi Myers and her husband, Russell |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Laughead, and Valerie Myers, as well as their grandchildren, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Adrienne, Alexa, Aaron, and Laura, and great-grandchildren, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Jackson, Collin, Hudson, and Braelynn; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Myers served in the United States Army and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | retired from the Texas National Guard, which awarded him the |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | brevet rank of brigadier general; he holds a bachelor's degree |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and master's degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | University and The University of Texas at Austin, respectively, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and enjoyed a successful career with the Texas Department of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Transportation, retiring as district engineer of the Paris |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | District in 1993; Mrs. Myers, an accomplished homemaker, earned |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Midwestern University and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | taught first grade while Mr. Myers was finishing college; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | residents of Paris since 1987, the couple are valued members of |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | First Baptist Church; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Myers have enjoyed six and a half |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | decades of abiding love and affection for each other, and they |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | are among an exceptional group of men and women who can claim such |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | a lasting commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Bobby and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Joyce Myers on their 65th wedding anniversary and extend to them |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 34 | 34 | | Mr. and Mrs. Myers as an expression of high regard from the |
