| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the passing of Dr. David Clark Craig of Henderson on May 5, 2017, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 74; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, David Craig was born on November 8, 1942, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Thorold, Ontario, Canada, to Matthew and Edith Craig; after |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | embarking on a career in ophthalmology, he relocated to the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | United States, and in 1978 he settled in Henderson; he owned and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | operated Craig Eye Care Associates for more than three decades |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and also treated patients in nearby communities, such as Kilgore |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and Carthage; he held membership in the Texas Medical |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the American |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Academy of Ophthalmology; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan gave generously of his time |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and expertise through his involvement in the Kiwanis Club of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Henderson, and he was active in the Henderson Civic Theatre, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | often appearing in the group's productions; moreover, he was a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | congregant at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Craig and his wife, Linda, shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | marriage that spanned more than 50 years; he was the proud father |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | of five children, John, Matthew, Thomas, Sarah, and Margaret, and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | he also took great delight in his 11 grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Although Dr. David Craig will be deeply missed, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | he has left his family and friends with a wealth of memories that |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | they will forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | of Dr. David Clark Craig and extend heartfelt sympathy to his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | loved ones; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | so in memory of Dr. David Craig. |
