| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the congregation of Greater Truevine Missionary Baptist |

| 4 | 4 | | Church in recognizing Pastor Aaron Stewart Jr. for his 43 years |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | of dedicated pastoral leadership; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Aaron Stewart is a 1952 graduate of Booker |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | T. Washington High School in Houston; he continued his education |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | at Texas Southern University, and he served with distinction in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | the United States Air Force during the Korean War; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Stewart answered the call of leadership at |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Greater Truevine Missionary Baptist Church in 1974, and in the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | years that have followed, he has ministered faithfully to the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | needs of innumerable Christians; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Under his outstanding leadership, the church has |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | provided enlightenment and hope to the community and has undertaken |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | many worthy projects for the benefit of those in need; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Inspirational and dedicated to helping others, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | this beloved pastor has devoted his time and energy unselfishly |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to the members of his church; he has counseled them in times of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | hardship and rejoiced with them in times of prosperity; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Stewart has had a positive influence on the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | lives of many; congregants and loved ones joined him in celebrating |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | his pastoral anniversary and retirement at a church gathering on |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | July 23, 2017; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Pastor Aaron |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Stewart Jr. for his many contributions to the Houston community |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and for 43 years of loyal service as pastor of Greater Truevine |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him best wishes on the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | occasion of his retirement; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
