| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Bill Murphey, who has retired after 20 years of |

| 4 | 4 | | outstanding service as the Brown County Veterans Service |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | officer; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Billy Murphey moved to Brownwood after serving the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | country with distinction for 20 years as a member of the United |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | States Marine Corps; he retired from the military in 1995; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of his career in veterans service, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mr. Murphey played a vital role in helping the area's combat |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | veterans navigate the process of receiving their Veterans |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Affairs benefits and transitioning into civilian life; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, he was also instrumental |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in the completion of the Central Texas Veterans' Memorial, a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | project which had lain dormant for several years; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, he is respected and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | admired by veterans and area citizens, and his presence as the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Brown County Veterans Service officer will be greatly missed; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Bill Murphey on |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | his exceptional service to the people of Brown County as veterans |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | service officer and extend to him best wishes for continued |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | success in all his endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
