SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 97 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Pat Currie, who is retiring after nearly 40 years of outstanding service with the Boy Scouts of America; and WHEREAS, Pat Currie has been Scout executive and chief executive officer of the Circle Ten Council in Dallas since 2010; he began his distinguished career in Scouting in 1979 with the West Tennessee Area Council in Jackson, Tennessee, before moving to the Chickasaw Council in Memphis, where he rose to the position of director of Field Service; and WHEREAS, Mr. Currie went on to serve as Scout executive and executive director of the Black Warrior Council in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and of the Blue Ridge Council in Greenville, South Carolina; he served for a time as deputy regional director of the Southern Region before joining the Circle Ten Council; and WHEREAS, Under his exemplary leadership, the Circle Ten Council has enjoyed unprecedented success; membership has increased each year, and the council has seen a dramatic increase in financial resources and in camping facilities that are such a vital part of Scouting; and WHEREAS, Pat Currie has had a profound impact on the Boy Scouts of America over the course of his career, and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for his hard work and his commitment to the Scouting movement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Pat Currie on his exceptional service to the Boy Scouts of America and extend to him best wishes for the retirement years ahead; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
