10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Chapter 105, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is amended | |
12 | 12 | by adding Section 105.11 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 105.11. HOURS OF SALE AND CONSUMPTION: HOTEL BARS | |
14 | 14 | DURING SPECIAL EVENTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of | |
15 | 15 | this code, the commission, on the request of the chief executive | |
16 | 16 | officer of a municipality, may extend the hours during which | |
17 | 17 | alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed in a licensed or | |
18 | 18 | permitted premises located in a hotel in the municipality during a | |
19 | 19 | special event that is being held in or near the municipality. | |
20 | 20 | (b) The commission may extend the hours for the sale and | |
21 | 21 | consumption of alcoholic beverages under this section for a period | |
22 | 22 | not to exceed 72 consecutive hours. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
24 | 24 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
25 | 25 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
26 | 26 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
27 | 27 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
