55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the hours for the sale and consumption of alcoholic
88 beverages at certain licensed or permitted premises during special
99 events.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Chapter 105, Alcoholic Beverage Code, is amended
1212 by adding Section 105.11 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 105.11. HOURS OF SALE AND CONSUMPTION: HOTEL BARS
1414 DURING SPECIAL EVENTS. (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of
1515 this code, the commission, on the request of the chief executive
1616 officer of a municipality, may extend the hours during which
1717 alcoholic beverages may be sold and consumed in a licensed or
1818 permitted premises located in a hotel in the municipality during a
1919 special event that is being held in or near the municipality.
2020 (b) The commission may extend the hours for the sale and
2121 consumption of alcoholic beverages under this section for a period
2222 not to exceed 72 consecutive hours.
2323 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2424 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2525 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2626 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2727 Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
