A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the use of the compensatory education allotment for a
school district's school guidance and counseling program or
counseling or social work services.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. Section 42.152, Education Code, is amended by
adding Subsection (c-6) to read as follows:
(c-6) Notwithstanding Subsection (c), funds allocated under
this section may be used to fund:
(1) services provided by a school counselor through a
district's school guidance and counseling program under Subchapter
A, Chapter 33;
(2) counseling services provided to a district by a
licensed professional counselor, as defined by Section 503.002,
Occupations Code; or
(3) social work services provided to a district by a
licensed social worker, as defined by Section 505.002, Occupations
Code.
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
