| 7 | 7 | | relating to the prizes awarded in certain pull-tab bingo games. |

| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 2001.002, Occupations Code, is amended |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | by adding Subdivision (6-a) to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | (6-a) "Carryover pull-tab bingo" means a form of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | pull-tab bingo that is played in successive event pull-tab bingo |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | deals of the same form number and in which a portion of the bingo |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | prize awarded to the winner of the event prize for each deal is paid |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | into a jackpot prize, the winner of the event prize for each deal |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | has the opportunity to win the jackpot prize, and the play continues |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | until the jackpot prize is awarded. This term does not include a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | game played on a gambling device as defined by Section 47.01, Penal |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Code. |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | SECTION 2. Sections 2001.420(a) and (b), Occupations Code, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | are amended to read as follows: |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (a) A bingo prize may not have a value of more than $750 for |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | a single game, except that a jackpot prize awarded in a carryover |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | pull-tab bingo game may not have a value of more than $10,000. |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (b) A person may not offer or award on a single bingo |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | occasion prizes with an aggregate value of more than $2,500 for all |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | bingo games other than: |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | (1) pull-tab bingo, including carryover pull-tab |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | bingo; or |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (2) bingo games that award individual prizes of $50 or |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | less. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
