9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 2051, Government Code, is amended by | |
11 | 11 | adding Subchapter E to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | SUBCHAPTER E. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION ON INTERNET FOR POLITICAL | |
13 | 13 | SUBDIVISIONS | |
14 | 14 | Sec. 2051.151. NOTICE BY PUBLICATION ON INTERNET. A | |
15 | 15 | political subdivision may satisfy a requirement in any other law to | |
16 | 16 | provide notice by publication in a newspaper by posting the notice | |
17 | 17 | continuously from the earliest date provided for in the requirement | |
18 | 18 | until the day after the date the action for which notice was | |
19 | 19 | required occurs: | |
20 | 20 | (1) on its Internet website; or | |
21 | 21 | (2) on a social media website if: | |
22 | 22 | (A) the political subdivision controls the | |
23 | 23 | content of the posting; and | |
24 | 24 | (B) the notice is easily found by searching the | |
25 | 25 | name of the political subdivision on the Internet. | |
26 | 26 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
27 | 27 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
28 | 28 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
29 | 29 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
30 | 30 | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
