| 9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 31, Election Code, is |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | amended by adding Section 31.014 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Sec. 31.014. ELECTION INFORMATION MOBILE APPLICATION. (a) |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | The secretary of state, in conjunction with the Department of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Information Resources, shall develop a mobile application for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | wireless communication devices and make the application available |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | to the public. |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | (b) The application must allow a person to access |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | information relevant to a voter in this state, including: |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | (1) a secure digital copy of the voter's registration |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | card, subject to the restrictions imposed by Section 18.066(b); |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) information on the scheduled dates for early |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | voting and election day, including the delivery of notifications |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | reminding the voter of those dates; |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (3) sample ballots; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | (4) information on how to vote and the identification |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | required to vote under Section 63.001(b); |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | (5) a map or list by county of polling place locations |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and hours for voting; |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | (6) current and historical election results; and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | (7) other information relevant to a voter in this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | state, as determined by the secretary of state. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | (c) The secretary of state shall coordinate with election |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | officers in each county of this state to ensure that information |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | provided through the application is accurate and up to date. |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
