66 AN ACT
77 relating to an election officer providing and receiving an
88 application for annual mail ballots at a polling place.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 61, Election Code, is
1111 amended by adding Section 61.015 to read as follows:
1212 Sec. 61.015. APPLICATION FOR EARLY VOTING BALLOT AT POLLING
1313 PLACE. (a) An election officer may provide to and accept from a
1414 voter who qualifies to receive ballots to be voted by mail under
1515 Section 86.0015, an application for a ballot to be voted by mail and
1616 may provide instructions for submitting the application under
1717 Section 86.0015.
1818 (b) An election officer may post at a polling place a sign in
1919 the form prescribed by the secretary of state under Subsection (c)
2020 that refers to the availability of application forms for an early
2121 voting ballot to be voted by mail if the election officers have the
2222 applications.
2323 (c) The secretary of state:
2424 (1) shall prescribe a sign that may be posted at a
2525 polling place that refers to the availability of application forms
2626 for an early voting ballot to be voted by mail; and
2727 (2) may adopt rules as necessary to implement this
2828 section.
2929 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
