9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 61, Election Code, is | |
11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 61.015 to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | Sec. 61.015. APPLICATION FOR EARLY VOTING BALLOT AT POLLING | |
13 | 13 | PLACE. (a) An election officer may provide to and accept from a | |
14 | 14 | voter who qualifies to receive ballots to be voted by mail under | |
15 | 15 | Section 86.0015, an application for a ballot to be voted by mail and | |
16 | 16 | may provide instructions for submitting the application under | |
17 | 17 | Section 86.0015. | |
18 | 18 | (b) An election officer may post at a polling place a sign in | |
19 | 19 | the form prescribed by the secretary of state under Subsection (c) | |
20 | 20 | that refers to the availability of application forms for an early | |
21 | 21 | voting ballot to be voted by mail if the election officers have the | |
22 | 22 | applications. | |
23 | 23 | (c) The secretary of state: | |
24 | 24 | (1) shall prescribe a sign that may be posted at a | |
25 | 25 | polling place that refers to the availability of application forms | |
26 | 26 | for an early voting ballot to be voted by mail; and | |
27 | 27 | (2) may adopt rules as necessary to implement this | |
28 | 28 | section. | |
29 | 29 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
