7 | 7 | | relating to a study by the Texas Water Development Board of |
---|
8 | 8 | | groundwater availability in certain counties. |
---|
9 | 9 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
---|
10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. In order to engage in a scientific inquiry and |
---|
11 | 11 | | analysis regarding current and projected groundwater production in |
---|
12 | 12 | | Williamson and northern Travis Counties, and to fully assess the |
---|
13 | 13 | | effects on groundwater resources associated with that production, |
---|
14 | 14 | | the executive administrator of the Texas Water Development Board |
---|
15 | 15 | | shall: |
---|
16 | 16 | | (1) update the findings made in Texas Water |
---|
17 | 17 | | Development Board Report 350, issued in 1999 - "Changes in |
---|
18 | 18 | | Groundwater Conditions in the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers, |
---|
19 | 19 | | 1987-1997, for Portions of Bastrop, Bell, Burnet, Lee, Milam, |
---|
20 | 20 | | Travis, and Williamson Counties, Texas"; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | (2) update all portions of the Edwards Aquifer and |
---|
22 | 22 | | Trinity Aquifer groundwater availability models in order to better |
---|
23 | 23 | | address the interaction between the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers |
---|
24 | 24 | | and to reflect current and projected groundwater production in |
---|
25 | 25 | | light of the increased development and population growth in the |
---|
26 | 26 | | areas overlying those aquifers. |
---|
27 | 27 | | SECTION 2. Not later than September 1, 2020, the executive |
---|
28 | 28 | | administrator of the Texas Water Development Board shall: |
---|
29 | 29 | | (1) complete the updates to the report and models |
---|
30 | 30 | | described by Section 1 of this Act; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | (2) make copies of the updated report and models |
---|
32 | 32 | | available to the public. |
---|
33 | 33 | | SECTION 3. This Act expires September 1, 2021. |
---|
34 | 34 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
---|
35 | 35 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
---|
36 | 36 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
---|
37 | 37 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
---|
38 | 38 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2019. |
